coordinator with responsibility for supervising the parking department, leading development of the city’s annual budget, serving as grants administrator, and managing several high-level capital improvement projects. As of April 1, Miller also will assume his permanent role as the city’s assistant city manager.

“Evan has municipal experience and wisdom beyond his years,” says Mayor Stan Mills, “and his appointment as interim city manager was unanimously supported by commissioners as he has been working alongside and been mentored by Sharon for five years now. I am committed to a smooth transition with Sharon’s departure, and I am very confident that Evan will provide that for the city. He has the skillset needed, he works diligently with every department, and he has the respect of his fellow staffers. I look forward to working with Evan until a permanent replacement is hired.”

Miller has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Delaware. He was named the Delaware Association for Public Administration’s Young Professional of the Year in 2019. A native of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, Miller currently lives in the City of Rehoboth Beach with his wife, Morgan, and cat, Dobby.

At its March 18 meeting, the Board of Commissioners voted to hire the executive search firm Raftelis to assist the city in its search for a permanent city manager.
