- The snow emergency and parking ban on Bayard, Rehoboth, and State Road will be lifted beginning at 5 pm today.
- Regular trash pick up will take place as scheduled tomorrow.
- City Hall offices are anticipated to be open on the regular schedule tomorrow.
As of 6 pm January 29
Gov. John Carney has terminated Level 2 driving restrictions as of 6 pm. However, a Level 1 driving warning is in effect for Sussex County until 8 am tomorrow (Sunday, January 21). This means that motorists are encouraged not to operate a motor vehicle on the state’s roadways unless there is a significant safety, health, or business reason to do so.
The city's snow emergency is expected to remain in effect through tomorrow, meaning that parking is still prohibited on Bayard, Rehoboth, and State Road.
As of 3 pm January 28
- The City of Rehoboth Beach has declared a snow emergency effective as of 6 pm today to ensure that emergency routes can be cleared effectively. During the snow emergency, no parking is permitted on Bayard Avenue, Rehoboth Avenue, and State Road. The snow emergency is in effect until the snow has stopped and all snow has been removed from the full width of the roadways or until the city cancels the snow emergency.
- Gov. John Carney has issued a State of Emergency for Sussex and Kent counties and authorized the Delaware National Guard to assist state and local officials with any necessary response and recovery. He also issued a Level 2 driving restriction for Sussex and Kent counties, beginning at 10 pm Friday, which means that no person, except those designated as “essential personnel” may operate a motor vehicle on Delaware roadways. Until further notice, travel on roadways is restricted to certain state employees, emergency workers, first responders, health care workers, utility workers, snow removal operators, and private sector food and fuel deliveries, among others approved through Delaware Emergency Management’s State of Emergency Driving Waiver program.
- To report an outage or downed wire, call Delmarva Power at 800-898-8042 or report and track the outage through the Delmarva Power mobile app or website. The Delmarva Power Storm Center provides an outage map, storm readiness tips, and information on how the company restores power. Customers are urged to stay away from downed wires and to assume any downed wire is energized.
- The City of Rehoboth Beach’s chief building official reminds contractors of their responsibilities to protect public safety. Please ensure that your job site is neat and free of potential debris that could become airborne with this weekend’s strong winds. Be sure to brace construction as required to prevent collapse. It is contractors’ responsibility to ensure that their jobsites and work materials do not become hazards to others.
