Rehoboth Beach closing public meetings to in-person attendance

Dec 28, 2021

In response to the current surge in covid cases statewide, the City of Rehoboth Beach is returning to fully virtual public meetings that limit in-person attendance. Effective immediately, members of the public may attend city meetings only virtually; only the committee chair and required support staff members will be allowed in the meeting/anchor room, and all individuals must be masked.

“We’re taking this measure out of an abundance of extreme extra caution,” says Mayor Stan Mills. “While we remain committed to ensuring public access and participation in our meetings, we feel that this measure is necessary to ensure the safety of those elected and appointed officials and staff members who must run our meetings as well as members of the public.”

In-person attendance will be prohibited for all of the city’s commission, committee, task force, and board meetings.

All city meetings are livestreamed and recorded for later viewing via the city’s Legislative Portal. Members of the public also may pre-register to speak “virtually” at public meetings by sending an email to City Secretary Ann Womack at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

The City of Rehoboth Beach is conducting its public meetings virtually and closing meeting/anchor locations to the public as permitted by Senate Bill No. 94 and Title 29 §10006(A) of the Delaware Code as well as the Public Health Emergency declared by Governor John Carney on July 12, 2021, and the extensions thereof.
