The City of Rehoboth Beach will host an open house to provide information to the public about Wilmington/Baltimore avenues streetscape concepts that have been developed over the past several months by the Rossi Group, the city’s engineering consultant, in collaboration with the Streetscape Task Force comprised of property and business owners, community organizations, and city commissioners. The open house will be from 9 am-noon Wednesday, September 29, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
The open house is open to the public, and anyone who is interested may come at their convenience at any time between 9 am and noon. No formal presentation will be made during the open house. Rather, attendees will have an opportunity to review display materials that graphically depict concept goals and objectives as well as address questions to project team members. The open house is designed to solicit public feedback; comment forms will be available.
The overarching objectives of Rehoboth’s current streetscape improvement efforts are to bring pedestrians and bicyclists and other alternative modes of transportation (scooters, etc.) onto Wilmington and Baltimore avenues and First and Second streets and to incorporate streetscape elements that will attract visitation.
“The Rossi Group and Streetscape Task Force have collaboratively suggested a vision for the Wilmington and Baltimore avenues streetscape that not only adds aesthetic interest to the area, but also greatly enhances pedestrian and bicycle accessibility and safety,” says Mayor Stan Mills, who chairs the task force. “I’m excited to share the proposed concepts with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders and to receive comments and additional suggestions. We really want folks’ feedback.”
The Wilmington and Baltimore streetscape concept has been developed in partnership with the Delaware Department of Transportation and Federal Highways Administration Transportation Alternatives Program.
