City adds yard waste drop-off service for residents, businesses

Sep 01, 2021

The City of Rehoboth Beach will begin accepting yard waste at its Recycle Yard beginning Monday, September 6. Drop-off is available to City of Rehoboth Beach residents and licensed businesses, but not commercial contractors. Yard waste may be dropped off from 9 am-1 pm Monday, Friday, and Saturday at 37540 Oyster House Road.

While the city will continue to pick up residential yard waste on the first, third, and fifth Wednesdays of the month as part of its curbside services, the drop-off location adds another service and option for residents. Yard waste that is dropped off need not follow maximum collection size requirements (as long as it fits in the 30-yard container provided) nor necessarily be bundled. Dropped-off yard waste may be loose or in paper bags. No waste in plastic bags will be accepted.

Accepted yard waste includes trimmings, dead plants, flower and vegetable debris, hay or straw, ivy, leaves, shrub trimmings, pine cones and needles, tree limbs, weeds, and wood chips or mulch.

In addition to yard waste, the city's Recycle Yard also accepts dropped-off recyclable materials from city residents and businesses during the same morning hours Monday, Friday, and Saturday.
