The City of Rehoboth Beach has scheduled a blood drive on Friday, April 2 as part of its ongoing effort to keep the local blood supply stable.
The drive is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, 229 Rehoboth Avenue. This is the fifth time the city has hosted a blood drive in the Main Hall of ithe Convention Center.
BBD’s partnership with Rehoboth Beach has allowed it to overcome the loss of other blood drives. Drives that normally depend on bloodmobiles remain on hiatus indefinitely while the spacious confines of the convention center allow for proper social distancing during the lingering pandemic.
BBD Account Manager Ralph Groves and the City of Rehoboth Beach so far have booked 78 out of 103 available appointments.
Individuals are eligible to donate if they are at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally feeling healthy and well with no fever. (Temperatures will be checked at the door.) Remember to eat and hydrate before donating.
The need for blood is constant. Blood Bank of Delmarva provides blood and blood products to the 19 hospitals in Delmarva and must see at least 350 donors each day to meet patients’ needs.
Individuals can book their appointment online or call 1-888-8-BLOOD-8. Use code CORB when booking online.
