The City of Rehoboth Beach commissioners, in their November 20, 2020, regular meeting, approved the proposal to proclaim and celebrate Small Business Saturday. Mayor Stan Mills signed a proclamation declaring November 28, 2020, as Small Business Saturday in the City.
“The City celebrates our local small businesses and the contributions they make to our local economy and community,” the proclamation states. It goes on to say small businesses are responsible for 64.9 percent of net new jobs created from 2000 to 2018.
“Small businesses employ 58.9 million people, which makes up 47.5 percent of the country’s total employees’ workforce,” the proclamation reads. “The City of Rehoboth Beach supports our local businesses that create jobs, boost our local economy, and preserve our communities.”
Small businesses are the lifeblood of our City. We salute small business owners to enhance our community and expand opportunities for all Rehoboth Beach citizens and the surrounding communities. Our small business entrepreneurs' hard work and ingenuity are helping to sustain our economic strength, vitality, and authenticity. Along with benefits to Rehoboth’s economy, our local merchants offer a personalized shopping experience to help you find the perfect gift for everyone on your list. We hope you will continue to support local shops and restaurants that call downtown Rehoboth Beach home for the remainder of the holiday season and well into the new year.
