Rehoboth Mayor and Commissioners Sworn In During Virtual Meeting

During the Rehoboth Beach Commissioners regular meeting on Friday, September 18, 2020, which was held virtually due to COVID-19, three incumbents were sworn in to serve on City Council.

Rehoboth Beach Alderman Judge Renee Bennett administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Mayor Stan Mills and Commissioners Patrick Gossett and Jay Lagree.

Mills said he is very hopeful about the future despite the hard times at the moment. His immediate priority as Mayor is helping the community get through the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and keeping the community healthy. Mills says he intends to improve transparency and seek ways to do even more to communicate with the public.

"I believe our City of Rehoboth Beach government has the most robust communications program of all 57 municipalities in Delaware. This is all being done to promote having an informed constituency and solicit your input," Mills said. Mills reminded the commissioners and the public about the oath of office they take. The board's power flows from the people of Rehoboth Beach. "In which to remind us all that the power of our offices come from the people we serve, that's you," Mills said. "For us to serve you well, I believe we need to solicit and receive your input on the topics we are discussing. And we need to ensure that you get accurate information as well."

Mills, Gossett, and Lagree are each serving three-year terms.
