The City of Rehoboth Beach is partnering with the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) this summer. The program provides jobs for young adults ages 14-16 that are focused on conservation and park projects. As a core component of the program, all Corps members participate in on-going and regular environmental education and awareness programs and training to learn together and experience outdoor opportunities. Two teams, each with approximately five members, will be on-site assisting with park and beach cleanup, mulching, weeding, and other projects as assigned. The YCC staff are paid by Delaware State Parks and each team comes with their own transportation and team leader. Although no supervision is necessary, the City provides partner liaisons, Project Coordinator Evan Miller and City Arborist Liz Lingo, to ensure teams have what they need to get started and the team leader understands the projects and expected outcomes. The teams started in June and work every other Thursday through mid-August from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, please visit www.destateparks.com/Volunteer/YCC.
