As the summer months approach, many ordinances in the City of Rehoboth Beach go back into effect. As of May 1, dogs are not permitted to be on the beach or boardwalk at any time until September 30. Bikes are allowed on the boardwalk during the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. from May 15 through September 15. Effective May 15, 2017, only umbrellas with a circular shade no greater than 8' in diameter and a central pole no greater than 7'6" in height are permitted. Baby tents up to 36" high x 36" wide x 36" deep, used to shade infants and small children, are permitted. All other tents, canopies, etc., are prohibited. Fire pits, open flames and cookery devices of any kind are prohibited on the beach. As a reminder, smoking on the boardwalk and beach are prohibited, and the noise ordinance continues to be in effect. Parking meters are in effect from the Friday immediately preceding Memorial Day through the second Sunday following Labor Day, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Meter rates are $2 and $3 per hour. Change machines are available in various locations around town. Time limits vary by meter location, from 30 minutes to 12 hours.
