The City of Rehoboth Beach was awarded a second Surface Water Matching Planning Grant in the amount of $27,500 from the Water Infrastructure Advisory Council. The funding will be used for a Stormwater Implementation Plan that will consist of sample collection and data evaluation to identify the potential sources of high bacteria levels found in the City’s stormwater system discharging through the Rehoboth and Maryland Avenues shoreline outfalls. The plan will involve the development of a stormwater bacteria source classification and profiles in addition to a business inventory and remediation prioritization. Preliminary engineering plans of engineered solutions will be developed to address these priority water quality and quantity issues to minimize potential beach closings. The project will take approximately six months to complete and is underway now.
