CodeRED Message from City Manager Sharon Lynn March 1

Mar 01, 2018

Currently, the storm is in Ohio and will redevelop off of the coast of NJ intensifying during the day on Friday into Saturday until moving slowly off to the southeast. In our area this is expected to be a minimal rain event, however high winds, and potential coastal flooding is expected. Expect winds increasing throughout the day on Friday with strong N/W winds 30-45 mph sustained and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Saturday, winds will decrease but still remain very windy with gusts up to 45 mph. The direction and strength of the wind will determine any amount of coastal flooding and beach erosion, with a high tide expected in our area at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. City crews will be working throughout the day on Friday and into the weekend, depending on conditions. Delmarva Power is committed to an emergency response system that makes safety a priority and restores power as quickly as possible. Please report outages and downed wires at 1-800-898-8042. It is important to continue to monitor the forecast and local conditions through television, radio and Internet resources. Please call the Rehoboth Beach Police Department by dialing 9-1-1 for emergencies or 302-227-2577 for information. You can expect the next Code RED emergency message after 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Thank you.
