City of Rehoboth Beach Closed Jan. 4

Jan 04, 2018

Snow continues to fall in our area with drifting conditions across the city making roads hazardous. City Hall is closed today for all non-essential employees. City street crews have been out plowing since late Wednesday night, however it is advisable to stay off the roads if you do not need to travel outside. At this time, the highest amounts of snow predicted along the southeastern coast of DE are 5-7”. We are continuing to monitor the weather pattern and we are tuned into Sussex County’s weather briefings from NOAA.

City work crews will continue to plow and treat the roadways throughout the day and tonight. Again, it is advisable for motorists to stay off the roads in order for the streets department staff to best operate the snowplows and to make roadways passable.

It is important to monitor the forecast and local conditions through television, radio and Internet resources.

Should you experience a power outage Delmarva Power is committed to an emergency response system that makes safety a priority and restores power as quickly as possible.  Customers can report outages and downed wires by calling 800-898-8042.

The city will continue to communicate as best as possible to provide updated weather conditions and all safety concerns to residents. Please check the city’s website and Facebook page facebook.com/City-of-Rehoboth-Beach-Delaware for any updated information. Please call the Rehoboth Beach Police Department by dialing 9-1-1 for emergencies or 302-227-2577 for information.
