The Rehoboth Beach Commissioners at their workshop meeting Monday, November 6, revised the proposed charter changes relating to voting rights for municipal elections
. At their regular meeting Friday, November 17, the Commissioners will continue to discuss substantial proposed charter changes that would allow individuals owning 50% or more of an artificial entity that owns property in the city to vote, would revise the durational residency requirement for resident voters from 6 months to 30 days, would revise the durational property ownership requirement for non-resident voters from 6 months to 30 days, and would eliminate the requirement to remove from the voter rolls anyone who hasn't voted in two consecutive municipal elections. The city's current practice of allowing voting by the creator and trustee of a revocable trust who owns city property under the trust will remain unchanged. Additional detail about the proposed changes is available at the following link
