Commissioners to discuss voting rights for LLCs & Committee Chairs Oct. 30

Oct 27, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach commissioners will be discussing at their regular meeting Monday, October 30, a charter change that would give limited liability companies voting rights during municipal elections

. Two changes under discussion will be to allow property owners who own their property in an LLC to vote. The second change is eliminating the requirement to remove from voter rolls anyone who hasn't voted in two consecutive municipal elections. The city allows non-residents who own their property in revocable trusts to vote. The discussion now is allowing non-residents who own their property in an LLC to vote as well. Restrictions would be that the property owner would have to own at least 50 percent of the entity that owns 100 percent of the property.  Mayor Paul Kuhns will also be naming new committee chairs during this meeting. The city will be looking for applications from people interested in joining new committees soon.
