The City of Rehoboth Beach approves chamber lease agreement

Apr 29, 2017

On April 21, 2017, the Rehoboth Beach Commissioners approved terms of a lease agreement with the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce for the city-owned property at 306 Rehoboth Avenue. The lease is a ten-year agreement with an option for one five-year renewal. The chamber will pay $40,000 a year in rent. Included is a two percent increase every year over the term of the lease. The city will continue to maintain the exterior of the building along with the change machine that is located out front. The chamber will be responsible for the interior maintenance of the building. The chamber will take occupancy of the building January 1, 2018. The city is providing the chamber with 45 days to vacate their old building, which is city-owned, located next to the Rehoboth Beach Museum. The chamber will continue to operate the Visitor's Center at 501 Rehoboth Avenue, adjacent to Grove Park.

The new building will provide the chamber with much-needed space and a higher profile location downtown. Being a centralized part of the downtown economic hub will open doors for new and established businesses, enabling the businesses to access important networking opportunities and services and increasing the chamber's accessibility.
