Rehoboth Town Hall for Elections and Voting Rights Dec. 2

The City of Rehoboth Beach has set a town hall for elections and voting rights on Saturday, December 2, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The town hall will be held in the second-floor meeting room of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company located at 219 Rehoboth Avenue. The public is invited to attend this meeting that will feature information on the proposed charter changes, public comment (limited to three minutes per person), questions, and answers. The new proposal would allow an individual owning 50 percent or more of an artificial entity that owns 100 percent of a property in the city to vote, would revise the durational residency requirement for resident voters from six months to thirty days, would revise the durational property ownership requirement for non-resident voters from six months to thirty days, and would adjust the requirement to remove from the voter rolls anyone who hasn’t voted in two consecutive municipal elections. The city’s current practice of allowing voting by the creator and trustee of a revocable trust who owns city property under the trust will remain unchanged.
