In partnership with the Sussex County Community Response Team and SUN Behavioral Health, the Rehoboth Police Department will offer free overdose prevention training from 10 am-1 pm Friday, May 21, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, 229 Rehoboth Avenue. No pre-registration is necessary.
This “walk-up” training, which will take only a few minutes per person, teaches friends and family members of individuals with opioid addictions how to recognize an overdose and what steps to take to save a life. As part of the training, individuals will receive a Narcan kit provided by the Delaware Division of Public Health.
In 2018, 88% of the 401 reported drug overdose deaths in Delaware involved opioids, according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
