Local artists energize City Hall through art

Jan 23, 2018

The Rehoboth Beach City Hall is sporting an exciting look right now, as some of the area’s most talented photographers exhibit their remarkable work. The Coastal Camera Club’s newest exhibit, which may be viewed through the summer, is on display Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., located on the second floor of City Hall, 229 Rehoboth Avenue. All artists featured in this exhibit are members of the Coastal Camera Club, an organization that is dedicated to promoting an interest in photography and advancing the skills of members through learning and sharing of photographic knowledge and experience. In addition, the organization is dedicated to enhancing the arts scene in the Rehoboth area through photography. City Manager Sharon Lynn said she was excited about the opportunity to showcase the art. “We have this beautiful new City Hall and a way for local artists and groups to display their art. It is important to the City of Rehoboth Beach to support the local talent and artists from our city.” Also on display on the second floor is artwork from the Rehoboth Art League. This exhibit highlights local artists, recognizing that everyone has the desire to engage in creative expression. The exhibit allows the city to bring that to life, share it with the public, and showcase the incredible creative talents of artists in the area. The Rehoboth Beach Museum’s mural installation in the lobby reflects life at the beach more than 100 years ago. Lynn encourages anyone wanting more information to visit coastalcameraclub.com, rehobothartleague.org, and rehobothbeachmuseum.org. “We are so grateful to the Coastal Camera Club, Rehoboth Art League, and Rehoboth Beach Museum, for their generous donations of art. We are excited about partnering with organizations to create a City Hall that is a vibrant public space and is welcoming for all. It’s a fitting example of how we elevate and value the contributions of arts organizations, and provide opportunities for artists to showcase their work to a wider audience,” said Mayor Paul Kuhns.
