Jeremy D. Lake, 37, of Delmar, Del. was arrested and charged with felony strangulation following his involvement in a domestic incident that occurred on Columbia Avenue in Rehoboth Beach early Sunday morning.
On Sunday (07/10/16) at around 2:48am, officers were dispatch to Columbia Avenue in the area of the Royal Farms for report of a man assaulting a woman. Upon arrival, officers located the female victim and began an investigation that revealed the details of an assault that began the prior evening.
On Friday evening just before midnight, Lake who had reportedly been drinking grabbed the victim by the arms throwing her down multiple times and choking her. The next evening, after drinking at a local bar, Lake and the victim were on their way home when they began to argue. During the argument, Lake once again choked the victim and struck her in the head with his elbow.
As a result of the assaults, the victim sustained multiple non-life threatening injuries to include bruising, swelling, and lacerations.
Lake had fled the scene prior to officers arrival, but was later apprehended in Grove Park near the scene of the incident on Sunday morning at around 10:00am.
Lake was arrested and charged with 2 felony counts of strangulation, 2 counts of misdemeanor third degree assault, and 1 count of disorderly conduct.
Lake was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $14,100.00 secured bail.
