The City of Rehoboth Beach invites residents to apply to serve on one of the city’s boards, commissions, or committees. The mayor plans to present recommendations for appointments and reappointments, for terms of 1-3 years, for the Board of Commissioners’ consideration at its September 8 workshop.
Applications are accepted year-round, but to be considered for appointment next month, applications are due by September 1. City residents may apply online at cityofrehoboth.com/committee-application; some committees also are open to area residents who live outside the City of Rehoboth Beach limits. Membership criteria and meeting information also are posted on the webpage.
Openings are available on several of the city’s boards, commissions, and committees. Interested residents should use the “apply” link at cityofrehoboth.com/committee-application for the particular board/committee of their choice; if residents are open to serving on other committees, that can be indicated in the application.
“We pride ourselves in Rehoboth on our high level of community engagement,” says Mayor Stan Mills. “Citizen participation on our various boards and commissions helps make Rehoboth Beach a stronger community. I encourage residents to share their expertise and talents with the larger community and apply to serve on one of the city’s boards, commissions, or committees.”
Rehoboth’s Board of Adjustment, Board of Elections, Parks and Shade Tree Commission, and Planning Commission are regulatory bodies with powers outlined in the city’s code. Appointment to these boards/commissions is for a three-year term. Appointments to committees, which study issues and serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners, generally are for one year.
