CodeRED - Winter Weather Update

Jan 07, 2017

This is Rehoboth Beach City Manager Sharon Lynn with an important message regarding the current weather conditions.

Snow continues to fall in our area with drifting conditions beginning across the city. At this time the highest amounts of snow predicted along the southeastern coast of DE are 9 – 15”. We are continuing to monitor the weather pattern and we are tuned into Sussex County’s weather briefings from NOAA.

City work crews have been out plowing since very early this morning and will continue to plow and treat the roadways into tonight. The Governor has declared a level 1 state of emergency for all non-essential emergency personnel to stay off the roadways. In the City of Rehoboth Beach it is advisable for motorists to stay off the roads in order for the streets department staff to best operate the snowplows and to make roadways passable.

It is important to monitor the forecast and local conditions through television, radio and Internet resources.

The city will continue to communicate as best as possible to provide updated weather conditions and all safety concerns to residents. Please check the city’s website and Facebook page for any updated information. Please call the Rehoboth Beach Police Department by dialing 9-1-1 for emergencies or 302-227-2577 for information.
