The City of Rehoboth Beach is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on one of the city’s boards, commissions, or committees. Some boards and committees have vacancies for which the mayor and commissioners will make appointments this fall. Applications for other boards and commissions that don’t currently have an opening will be kept on file should service opportunities arise throughout the year.
Applications are accepted year-round, but to be considered for appointment this fall, applications are due by September 22. City residents may apply online at cityofrehoboth.com/committee-application. Some committees also are open to area residents who live outside the City of Rehoboth Beach limits. Membership criteria and meeting information also are posted on the webpage.
“Those who serve on our commissions, boards, committees, and task forces make a real difference in the community,” says Mayor Stan Mills. “Our appointed committees do important work, and the commissioners and I rely on these groups to assist in addressing issues that arise.”
Rehoboth’s Board of Adjustment, Board of Elections, Parks and Shade Tree Commission, and Planning Commission are regulatory bodies with powers outlined in the city’s code. Appointment to these boards/commissions is for a three-year term. Appointments to committees, which study issues and serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners, generally are for one year.
