The city will begin reconstruction of a new Rehoboth Beach Patrol headquarters and public comfort station at Baltimore Avenue in September 2023.
The two-story, 5,500-square foot building will be fully accessible with public facilities on the first level and the beach patrol on the second level. Davis Bowen & Fridel have designed the facility to provide for:
- a state-of-the-art beach patrol facility with sweeping sightlines
- quick response and functionality
- a gateway between the boardwalk and Baltimore Avenue
- flexibility for after-hours and non-seasonal use
- a public comfort station that is accessible and easily navigable from the boardwalk.
Important dates/information
- The Board of Commissioners is expected to discuss and consider approving a construction contract at an August 18 meeting.

Key construction target dates
- Demolition of existing facility begins - September 18, 2023
- Phase I construction complete (comfort station operational and beach patrol shell finished) - aggressive goal date of May 2024
- Phase II construction begins - September 2024
- Construction complete - May 2025
